2013
It has been 4 years since my last post. Guess it's time for an update. The Utah Chase Crew is alive and thriving! Dillon is a jr in HS and just lettered in swim. He has spent the last 5-6 months in a swimming pool it seems! It was fun to watch him cut seconds off his best times as he raced through the water. He enjoyed it but is glad to no longer smell like chlorine! He is now pursuing two job opportunities. He will teach swim lessons at the local swimming pool and clean the local elementary schools on a substitute basis.
Morgan is in 9th grade at the local jr. high. This week she received the Elk's Club's Jr Teen Award along with a $100 scholarship. She was honored at their regular meeting on Tuesday night. She is also part of her school's concert choir and had two performances this week. Although she refuses to admit she enjoys piano, she is getting very good at playing hymns. She has been teaching herself and practicing at her own insistence...and she is getting pretty darn good!
Aspen is in 6th grade and loving being in the oldest grade in her school. Last week was the 6th grade dance and she glowed as she twirled and spun around the room! She has been taking Karate for the past 18 months and it's great to watch her go through the blocks and kicks. She recently earned her high yellow belt. She is taking piano lessons and doing really well and she is also a great babysitter...not only with our kids but with some neighbor's kids as well. They love it when Aspen comes to play!
Sydney is in 3rd grade and loves to read. She has been taking tumbling and does a mean back handspring! I love to watch her glide across a room flipping backwards. She is taking piano lessons and doing really well.
Samuel is also in 3rd grade. He is loving cub scouts. He is has also earned his high yellow belt. Sam doesn't want to take piano lessons but he really enjoys sitting at the piano and plucking out his favorite songs.
The kids are keeping us busy with activities but we love it!

A New Year
I stink at this updating business! It takes way too long! But I'll give it a minute because I love reading other people's updates so it's only fair!
We started off 2009 with basketball for Dillon and volleyball for Morgan. I hate watching sports but there is something about watching your own children play! I never tire of it! It's great to see the kids improve season after season and sometimes game after game. Aspen was in basketball last fall and was quite disappointed that we didn't sign her up again. But we can only handle so much in one week!
Young Women's continues to keep me busy and happy. I love the girls I get to teach and spend time with each week. They are a great example to me! Plus they make me laugh and they laugh at my jokes! What more could I ask for??!!
The twins are attending pre-school twice a week and going to Joy School twice a week. They keep pretty busy and love it. Every 5 weeks I get to teach Joy School. It's fun to have their friends come over to sing, dance, do puppet shows, read stories, do crafts, and have fun.
While the twins are away at school, there is no one at home with me! So I have started spending some time at the school reading with kids. I'm trying to decide what I want to do when they are in school full time but I have a whole year plus some until I have to decide that!
Kevin is enjoying his third year as a principal. He's at a great school with great teachers and kids--and that makes all the difference in the world! At home he keeps busy with all kinds of projects. Lately he's been reorganizing the garage a little at a time! A monumental task!
Aspen is turning 8 this week and so excited to be baptized on Saturday! She's been beaming for weeks at this exciting news!
No major trips recently...nothing else new or exciting to report...same old, same old and that is good!

Fall 2008
It's been a fun and busy fall. The kids started back to school at the end of August. The twins started pre-school and are loving it. The girls started a new school and are not sure they love it. And Dillon started junior high and is enjoying it.
For the fall break we planned a trip down to Southern Utah to see my sister Shelly and her family and to see Les Miserables at Tuacahn. We had a great time visiting. The cousins really enjoyed seeing each other. Right before we left, Kevin's grandma Powell passed away. We extended our trip by a few days and drove further south into Arizona for the funeral. It was a nice service and we got to visit with 2 of Kevin's brothers and their families and Kevin's parents. We drove down to the north rim of the Grand Canyon and spent time playing games and telling stories at the hotel.
We loved seeing family again and wish they all lived much closer!!

Summer 2008
Summer 2008 was more busy than we expected. In June we headed south to AZ to meet with Kevin's family for a family reunion in the mountains of Payson. It was great to meet with family we haven't seen for months or years or ever! Our kids were able to meet their great-grandma Powell, who passed away just last week. We were so glad our kids got a chance to meet her and spend some time with her at the reunion.
Following the reunion, Kendi (my sister-in-law), Amber (my niece), Mom Chase and I left the men and children in AZ and left for NYC and NJ! What a trip! We had a blast being silly, getting lost, asking for directions, being scared in a questionable neighborhood, eating great foods, watching WICKED (which I highly recommend!!) and so much more. It was a great girl bonding trip and won't be forgotten soon!
I left the "girls" for a few days of the trip to go to NJ for the wedding of my friend, Soo. It was a great wedding and reception, and great to be able to visit with Soo and meet her hubby, Jason. I also stayed with my friend Mary-Kay and got to know her family better. Both Soo and Mary-Kay were so awesomely kind to let me stay with them and to drive me around while back east. Good friends are sure a great blessing!!
I also met up with my friend Shaleen. We were bosom buddies when we were small. If you didn't find Shaleen at my house then it was because we were together at her house. We hadn't really talked since 6th grade so it was great fun to have dinner with her one night while we were in NY.
When we returned from AZ, we bought a used semi-permament swimming pool that needed to be disassembled and reassembled. After camping overnight with Ruth and Mike and their family, Mike was kind enough to help Kevin with the awful task of taking the pool apart and bringing it home.
Two days later Kevin was off to Scout camp for a week with Dillon.
Kevin was home for a week before I left for a few days for Youth Conference with the 14-18 year old youth in our ward.
During the next two weeks we worked like crazy to level the ground and assemble the pool. We finally put water in it before I left for a week of Girls' Camp with the 12-18 year old girls in our ward. Girls' Camp was a blast! Putting up the pool was not! But we sure have had fun playing in there since then!
Well, looks like my summer scenario must end here for now. It was a busy and fun summer and we weren't ready for school to start in late August when the school bell rang!

The Chases finally get modernized!
We are finally into the 21st Century with internet and a blog! Who would've guessed! Now we can keep everyone posted as to what's going on with us--if we can remember to update the blog!
